Take trail 720 behind Malga Cavallera, heading toward Bivacco Menegazzi; from here continue east along trail 773, crossing the beautiful meadows of Pian Lonch until reaching the stream that descends from Valle Sprit, where you face a delicate section that requires descending a few meters over unstable scree before easily crossing the streambed.

The trail continues below the broad southern slope of Croda Granda, reaching Casera Camp (approx. 1 hour), and then Passo di Luna (approx. 1.5 hours), where the view opens onto the majestic southern face of Agner and extends as far as Moiazza and the Tamer–San Sebastiano Group.
From Passo di Luna, continue by following the on-site signs along trail 773, with no difficulties—first across grassy tracks and then through woodland.
Before the final stretch out of the woods, you begin to catch sight of Rifugio Scarpa-Gurekian, perched atop a grassy knoll, which is reached with one last short ascent.

Return to rifugio Malga Cavallera (loop route)
The return to rifugio Malga Cavallera can be made along the outward route, possibly with some detours to visit the points of interest listed below, or by completing the loop, which descends toward Frassenè and, via Forcella Aurine, follows the forest road from Sant’Andrea back to our rifugio.
From Rifugio Scarpa–Gurekian, descend toward Frassenè and reach the Fienili Domadore area, just above the village. You can get there by following the forest road that leads to the rifugio (trail 771) and then taking one of the marked paths near two hairpin bends, or via the forest road descending from Malga Luna. From Fienili Domadore, near the bridge, on the right side of the stream, the path to Forcella Aurine begins. Up to this point, the route follows a mix of easy trails and faint tracks with limited signage, so a map and good navigation skills are required.
Upon reaching the first houses of Forcella Aurine, continue west along the road which, shortly ahead, becomes a path and then rejoins the provincial road a little further on. From here, Sant’Andrea is reached in a short time; take the right onto Via Margonola and, shortly after, turn right again onto Via Cavallera, where the forest road to the rifugio begins.

Along the route, you pass near several places that are definitely worth a detour, or could serve as an alternative route for the return to Malga Cavallera.
– Col di Luna: from Passo di Luna, following the signs southward, an easy path leads to the summit of Col di Luna, a wonderful panoramic viewpoint above Forcella Aurine;
– Malga Luna: about 10 minutes from Passo di Luna in the direction of Rifugio Scarpa-Gurekian, you reach a junction where you leave trail 773 and take the path descending to the right toward Frassenè, reaching in a few minutes a malga (mountain hut), now disused and serving as a shelter. Just below the malga, the path becomes a forest road that descends to Fienili Domadore, and can be used as a variant of the loop route on the way back to Malga Cavallera.
Buddhist temple: from Passo di Luna, ascend north along the Coston di Luna, following a steep, poorly marked track. The route includes very steep and exposed sections that require experience and caution, especially when the trail is wet. The Buddhist Temple can also be reached via the Trail of the Spirits of the Air, which starts near Rifugio Scarpa-Gurekian and runs at the base of the peaks between Agner and Croda Granda;
Pissandol waterfall: just before the ascent to Rifugio Scarpa-Gurekian, turn right onto a trail marked by a wooden sign reading “Pissandol,” which can be reached in about 15 minutes. This path is very steep and slippery in sections and must be tackled with great care, especially when the ground is wet or damp. From the waterfall, the trail continues downhill to meet the forest road descending from Malga Luna.
