how to get here

From Sarasin di Gosaldo - loc. Domadore along the CAI 720 path, taking the forest road for Malga Cavallera to the junction at Pra della Forca (difficulty: easy; 1.8 km for 350 metres of altitude difference). Leaving the junction with the path, it is also possible to continue along the forest road (difficulty: easy; 2.8 km for 350 metres of altitude difference): this route is recommended for the less well-trained, for those who wish to ascend by bicycle, on MTB or on horseback.

From Passo Cereda along CAI paths 718-777 (difficulty: excursionist; 7.4 km for 880 m positive altitude difference).

From Sant'Andrea di Gosaldo along the forest road to the Malga Cavallera refuge (difficulty: easy; 3.7 km for 400 m difference in altitude). It is possible to ascend on foot, by mountain bike, on skis, with snowshoes and on horseback; if ascending with small children, it is preferable to use a child backpack.

From Rifugio Scarpa - Gurekian along CAI path no. 773 (difficulty: excursionist; 6.8 km for 270 m positive altitude difference).

From the Refuge Tresviso in Val Canali along CAI path 720 (difficulty: excursionist (the Forcella delle Mughe is not trivial, pay close attention); 3.4 km for 650 m of positive altitude difference).

On the other hand, we advise against taking the path that starts out near the pharmacy in Don di Gosaldo and bears the sign Malga Cavallera/Bivacco Menegazzi. The trail passes through an area recently affected by deforestation and the path has been cut in several places by tractor tracks, making orientation much more complicated and making it easy to get lost for those who do not know the area well.

THE FOREST ROADS FROM DOMADORE AND SANT'ANDREA DO NOT HAVE A BAR SINCE THEY SERVE MANY MALGHE (SHEPHERD'S HUTS) AND RURAL ACTIVITIES, HOWEVER, THEY ARE SILVOPASTORAL ROADS WHICH CANNOT BE USED BY MOTOR VEHICLES UNLESS THEY HAVE THE APPROPRIATE PERMIT ISSUED BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF GOSALDO AND ONLY FOR PROFESSIONAL REASONS.
